Throughout this series, I speak entirely in a personal capacity. I do not represent my Mother Lodge, any particular Grand Lodge, or Freemasonry as an institution.
My role is that of a stage-builder: to construct the framework, raise the larger questions and bring together the historical, symbolic and philosophical threads but I will not be doing this alone.
In the coming episodes, Mystery Channel will invite Freemasons, historians, researchers and specialists in front of the camera.
Together, we will explore some of the most intriguing questions surrounding the Craft.
We will investigate the medieval stonemasons and cathedral builders, the origins of modern Freemasonry, the distinction between Regular and Liberal or Continental Freemasonry, and the role of ritual, initiation and symbolism in personal transformation.
We will follow older and more controversial trails as well possible Germanic and Indo-European echoes, initiatory mythology, the symbolism of Solomon’s Temple, the Knights Templar and the extraordinary world of Arthur, Parsifal and the Quest for the Holy Grail.
